The Home Improvement Project was created to improve quality of life and participation of people living with epilepsy while creating a safe environment with in the home. Adults and children team up to dig a rainwater collection tank and build safe stoves that protect the person living with epilepsy from the open fire which often trigger seizures and cause life threatening injuries. The team also makes nutrition gardens to help the family supplement their dietary needs. This is often seen to be a challenge when sticking to a medication regimen. This also serves as a good opportunity for the team to do more epilepsy awareness to explain that epilepsy is a medical condition and dispel the many myths associated with it.. It's during this activities that the home is also paired with a caring community health worker who will periodically check in and offer support to the family.
