Every year for four years running, the Purple Bench Initiative, a chapter of the IBE, together with local partners like the Kampala Hash House Harriers actively participate in the 50 Million Steps epilepsy awareness campaign and record their steps every 2nd Monday of February.  It is the climax of a week long set of activities that focuses on building awareness and engaging stakeholders to support people living with Epilepsy as well as their care givers.

IBE Golden Light Award winner Nina Mago along with her team spark conversations and insights about Epilepsy to over 100 of Uganda’s Chapter of the Hash House Harriers, each offering 10,000 steps (7km). Purple Bench Initiative targets 1,000,000 steps by close every campaign. Every epilepsy day run is an opportunity to bring this often stigmatised condition to the fore.
